A Voz do Morro

A Voz do Morro
A VOZ DO MORRO, the new show by Coro Cênico Brasileiro, tells the story of samba and its trajectory from the first officially recorded samba songs. The show's narrative unfolds chronologically, beginning with the story of the song "Pelo Telefone" (1916) up to the present day. During the show, the audience will (re)discover the great names of this musical genre: Noel Rosa, Cartola, Donga, Sinho, João da Baiana, Ary Barroso, Adoniran Barbosa, Paulinho da Viola, Dona Ivone Lara, and many others. "A voz do morro" is an irreverent, playful and educational conversation, where samba and the morro are the main subjects. Through approximately 50 songs, the show will bring the audience a facet of samba little known outside of Brazil.

Tempo Rei
TEMPO REI, the new production by Coro Cênico Brasileiro, brings the audience musical works that speak about time. Created from the personal experiences of the group's members, their stories, fears, desires and concerns, the show allows spectators to revisit their own memories and experience each song in a unique, personal way. On stage, thirty-six singers present a repertoire flooded with emotions. Songs by Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque, Tom Zé and other great names in Brazilian popular music support this narrative, which questions humanity's relationship with time.

Txai
November 25, 2017
Txai
More than a friend, more than a brother. The half of me that exists in you is the half of you that lives inside of me. (Meaning of the word TXAI in the language of the Brazilian aboriginal Kaxinawa people) Inspired by the work of Milton Nascimento - a prominent Brazilian songwriter - TXAI is a musical performance that brings together recurring themes throughout Milton's work. By means of parallel stories that intertwine during the play, the show tells about friendship, separation, distance, loneliness, simplicity and about brazilian people, their struggles and their happy way to look at life. Thirty singers and five musicians will be on the stage to present this repertoire full of feelings that go beyond any geographical or cultural location, establishing relationships and meanings that can be felt and understood by all.
